SACRAMENTO - A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was involved in a wreck on Interstate 80 just east of Greenback Lane around 7:44 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to a CHP officer on scene, the 10-year veteran, Officer Andy Beasley, was driving westbound on I-80 when a car, rear-ended by another car, jutted out in front of the officer. Beasley hit the car and was ejected from his bike into the center divider.

Beasley was transported to Mercy San Juan hospital with major, but non life-threatening injuries, according to the CHP spokesperson.

Traffic was heavy in the westbound direction of I-80 for nearly three hours after the crash.
