CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. - The man shot and killed by a store employee while allegedly attempting to rob a Sacramento Metro PCS store on Sunday was identified on Tuesday.
According to the Sacramento County Coroner's office, Derick Hunter, 30, of Citrus Heights was identified as the man shot in the attempted robbery.
Hunter was in the process of robbery when he ventured towards an office in the back of the store and encountered one of the store employees who was armed, said Sacramento sheriff's sergeant Jason Ramos.
The employee then shot and killed Hunter, Ramos said.

The employee was later cleared of any wrongdoing by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
